Making a hotspot of your phone
JoikuSpot could be a handy piece of software to have on your mobile phone. It simply turns your phone into a WIFI hotspot. You can use your 3G, 3.5G or WIFI network as an access carrier. Giving you or others the ability to use your mobile phone as a hotspot for laptops.
Up until now, my preferred way to use my mobile as a modem have been through the USB cable. With the bluetooth, in practice you get lower carrier speed. With JoikuSpot I get almost the same speed as with the USB cable. Check out the speed test I did.
JoikuSpot is available as freeware(Light) with some limitations. If you pay 15 euros (Premium), you get additional features like VPN tunnelling. At present JoikuSpot don’t offer support for FTP or protocols than HTTP(s). JoikuSpot supports a wide range of mobile phones.
It would be great to use JoikuSpot to stream live with web cam at Ustream or Kyte. I was able to get a picture through at Kyte, but not Ustream. This could be due to the fact that they use different protocols in they’re setup. Probably because streaming live with web cam at Ustream involve other protocols than HTPP(S). If you have a work around, please leave a message in the comment field.

Simply genius! I love this software already. Downloaded it two days ago. Made by a Finnish guy i think?
I also like this site. I only wish you updated it more often. Keep blogging!

Great idea. Super handy when there are no public hotspots available.
